Hospice Circle of Love is a an option for any terminally ill patient who meets the following criteria: Reside within a 60 mile radius of Enid; Have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and chosen not to pursue curative aggressive treatment; Whose attending physician agrees that hospice care is appropriate; Who wishes to remain in the home or nursing home; Has a primary caregiver who agrees to directly or indirectly care for the patient.

Hospice is a Medicare benefit and a benefit of some private insurance companies. Those who do not have these benefits are served using money from our memorials, donations and fundraisers. Hospice pays for all medications and equipment related to the terminal illness.

Hospice Circle of Love never charges patients or families for our services.

At any time during a life-limiting illness, it’s appropriate to discuss care options. Hospice can be a difficult step for a patient and their family to take, but one that can offer much comfort and help at a very difficult time. Family members of hospice patients often comment that they wish they had called sooner.

If an individual chooses to try more aggressive treatment or if improvement in the condition occurs, the patient will simply be discharged or they may revoke their hospice benefit. A patient can be readmitted later if desired.

Hospice patients are cared for by a team of nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, musical therapists, pet therapists, chaplains and volunteers. Each provides assistance based on his or her area of expertise. In addition, hospice provides medications, supplies and equipment related to the terminal illness.

Hospice nurses are up-to-date on the latest medications and devices for pain and symptom relief. In addition, hospice staff assists patients to be as mobile and self-sufficient as possible. Chaplains and a counselor are available to assist with emotional and spiritual pain.
